Dog holds six tennis balls in his mouth and breaks the Guinness World Record
Meet Finley – the golden retriever with a very special tick.
The six-year-old pup has managed to fit six tennis balls in his mouth – which means he has broken the world record.
The dog, from Canandaigua, New York, taught himself the trick over time as he doesn’t want to give any of them away.
He scoops the first four up easily but needs to use his paws to push the fifth and sixth into place, but he does it all by himself.
The previous record was set by a dog called Augie in Dallas on 6 July 2003. He managed five tennis balls in his mouth at one time.
Unfortunately, Finley’s record isn’t official yet as his owners Cheri and Rob Molloy and daughter Erin still need to complete the paperwork and gather all the evidence needed to have it formally recognised but they hope it will happen soon.
Erin first noticed his talent when he was about two years old.
He started out carrying four but when they tossed balls to him, he would gather as many as he could to bring them back and he was soon able to fit five and then six.
Erin created an Instagram account for him in 2018 and he has become quite a star with almost 29,000 followers.
The record recognition process is long but Finley is very happy to keep practising – his family say he loves doing his trick.
Cheri told the Democrat & Chronicle: ‘He lives the life of a king.
‘We’ve never forced him to do any of that.
‘The joy he brings to us is one thing but he brings joy to people all over the world.’
